Cake Manufacturing Wastewater Treatment

Fats, oils and greases are an ever-increasing problem. For this cake manufacturer our engineers successfully addressed this problem to exceed the customers’ expectations.

Background

Excessive fats, oils and greases (FOG) from cake manufacturing waste was causing blockages at the local utility pumping station and generating high chemical oxygen demand (COD), large amounts of suspended solids and low pH.

Project

Our team of engineers set about installing a Bacterial Treatment Plant comprising of a pumping station, bacterial reactor with integral fat skimmer, pH balancing system and Hydrocell flow and wastewater sampling equipment.

Solution

The outcome saw FOG reduced to below 500mg/l from 60,0000mg/l, COD reduced to 4000mg/l from 15,000mg/l and pH balanced to 7.6 – surpassing the customers’ expectations.
