Benefits of this industrial oil skimmer
An oil skimmer uses simple effective technology
Placed directly into the tank, the simple technology in this oil skimmer allows for effective removal of fats, oils, and greases from the surface of the water using hydrophobic belt materials. This belt works continuously to lift FOG from the wastewater whilst rejecting water. The FOG is then scraped from the belt and deposited into a collection vessel for recovery.
In above ground tanks the Greasebuster® can be attached to the wall of the tank. In underground tanks the flotation variant allows the Greasebuster® to float in the tank and FOG is removed with an integral slurry pump and transferred to a surface collection vessel.

- Robust Technology and Control
The Greasebuster® main frame is made of high chemical resistant and high temperature grade Polypropylene with stainless steel roller bearings. A programmable motor speed controller, 5.5KW invertor and 3-phase geared motor provide variable speed and both continuous and timed periodic running. The Greasebuster® gathering trough also has a heater underneath to keep the FOG liquidised very beneficial in cold climates.
An industrial oil skimmer has a high removal capacity
The Greasebuster® is manufactured in either 800mm or 1200mm belts which can remove up to 4m3 of FOG per day, and is specifically designed for large scale industrial use. For oil skimmer applications, almost 100% oil extraction is possible which once recovered can be resold for reprocessing, and up to 8m3 of oil can be extracted per day.

What is FOG?
FOG is the acronym for fats, oils, and greases that are produced by food products and can contaminate the water if not removed by a grease skimmer. Aside from the necessity of their removal for the prevention of pollution, FOGs are an organic substance that can possess commercial value when recycled.
How much FOG is present in my waste water?
This is really dependent on your industry and how much waste water you produce. FOGs are measured in mg/l, which is milligrams per litre – so 1000mg/l content equals 1 gram of FOG per litre of water.
Generally, a test is required to determine the level of FOG in water, and the local water authority set the permissible level of FOG allowed to drain. This is typically 150mg/l.
Where can I find FOG in waste water?
There are three places in your waste water where you can find FOG. The first is FOG that floats on the water’s surface. Then there are the FOGs that are mixed into food, such as bakery dough where the FOGs are mixed with the flour – these can’t be separated. And finally, there are the FOG droplets that are suspended in water.
The type of FOGs that you have present in your waste water will determine the grease skimmer solution that you require. These can range from simple technologies for the surface FOGs such as the Greasebuster® belt skimmer and mop skimmers, to complex technologies such as bio-reactors and Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF).
